MEET THE HEROES
Social Worker/National Guard, Connecticut
She was born in the United States to immigrants from Vietnam. A full time social worker, Loan helps younger people who struggle with mental health and addiction. As part of the National Guard, she helps military personnel with PTSD and other mental health issues. On top of that she mentors younger people and acts as a big sister.
During the pandemic Loan has had to modify her care for her clients who desperately need a support system. Isolation from the world has caused hardships for those with addiction and mental health issues. The inability to have the face-to-face meetings has created big obstacles for those in the mental health community.
Finding a way to connect and support those under her care has been difficult to say the least. But Loan is pushing ahead with grace, compassion and most of all determination knowing what she does can make a difference in the lives of so many people in her community.
